Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s 30th Annual World War II Weekend: A Gathering of Warbirds

June 4, 2021 - June 6, 2021

2021 TICKETS ON SALE NOW

WWII Weekend paper ticket sales are now open for On-Line purchase from the MAAM Store and by Mail Order.  E-tickets may also be purchased now through AttendStar.  Due to COVID restrictions, the start of both telephone orders and walk-in ticket sales will be announced when staffing limitations allow.  See the WWII Weekend Ticket page for all the details.

GATHERING OF WARBIRDS LIST POSTED

Another bomb link is armed. The lineup of rare warbirds scheduled to fly and appear at MAAM’s 30th Annual WWII Weekend has been uploaded .

We have a great squadron of ten bombers – heavy, medium, dive and torpedo. Five dashing fighters form the escort.  Five transports support the effort. Twenty-two primary and advanced trainers will take to the air.  A half-dozen “L-birds” will liaise. Finally, a quartet of vigilant Civil Air Patrol planes will watch over the home front.  Come to Spaatz Field and hear the thunder of  71 mighty engines.

Well, to be as accurate as a Norden bombsight… You won’t actually get to hear the mills on MAAM’s incredible  Northrop P-61B “Black Widow”  night-fighter run, yet. But you can get a good, close-up walk-around of our deadly but beautiful black bird on the ramp and inspect all the new work that has gone forward, even during this past very trying year.  If the spirit moves you, make a donation to the P-61B Recovery and  Restoration Project to make the day those mighty P&W Double-Wasps come back to life just a little bit closer.

WORLD WAR II WEEKEND SPECIAL GUEST ROSTER

The distinguished guest veterans who will be telling their stories at this year’s event are now present or accounted for on our Special Guest Page.  Gently tap the relevant bomb link to see who will be appearing and mark your calendar to meet them at Reading.

WORLD WAR II WEEKEND – 2021

We are well into planning for our 30th Annual WWII Weekend which will be held on June 4,5,6, 2021.

We will begin “arming” the bomb links as things are firmed up, so check back frequently.

TICKET  EXCHANGE POLICY

Our long-standing ticket purchase policy has been “no refunds” .  However, due to COVID-19 disruption, we are offering the following options:

Electronic Tickets purchased for the cancelled 2020 show which were not donated back to the Museum will be honored for our 2021 event.

Any physical paper tickets that were purchased for 2020 and not donated back to MAAM must be mailed back and received by the Museum by May 27th to exchange them for 2021 WWII Weekend tickets.

IMPORTANT!  2020 paper tickets WILL NOT be honored at the gate and nor will ticket returns be accepted during the 2021 WWII Weekend.

As you may know, WWII Weekend is the largest fund raiser for our Museum.  These funds help pay for our daily operating expenses and the restoration of our historic aircraft.

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you all safe and well this

summer at Reading for a better than ever 30th World War II Weekend .

As it has for many Non-Profit Institutions, the current pandemic has severely affected the financial well-being of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum.

Please help MAAM survive COVID-19 by donating what you can to our GoFundMe Campaign.

MOM AND DAD, I DIDN’T GET TO GO TO WWII WEEKEND…

…but at least I got this great T-shirt!  We admit, it’s not much as silver linings go, but now is your chance to get the official MAAM 30th Annual WWII Weekend Gathering of Warbirds T-shirt in your size (as long as it’s M, L, XL, or XXL) and in your favorite color (as long as it’s heather indigo).

Just think, you can be a proud owner of this souvenir shirt for the show that never was, the gathering of warbirds that never landed, and you will be helping MAAM pay the rent and keep the lights on at the same time!  Take a look at this gorgeous, and we sincerely hope, unique fashion item on the WWIIWE Tee-Shirt Page, or go straight to the MAAM Online Store and order yours today, please.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE…

In WWII Weekends past , only a relative few show-goers were lucky and quick enough to snag one of the leftover advertising posters at the MAAM PX Tent for their collection. The limited supply was often exhausted by Friday afternoon, at the latest.

This year, as with the WWII Weekend T-Shirts, you need not arrive early on Friday’s Arrival Day to get this coveted souvenir.  We  just happen to have a fair number of undistributed, pristine posters at a special all-in price of $9.99 (over half of which is the shipping tube and postage cost.)

But wait, that’s not all!  You can order one or two more posters in the same tube for just $3 bucks each, (and no tricky additional handling charge applies!)

This stunning poster features a painting of  the first Atomic Bomber, the “Enola Gay” and her squadron-mates lined up on the ramp at Tinian Island on the night of August 5, 1945. The uranium bomb, “Little Boy”, rests on it’s bomb cart, ready to be loaded in the bomb bay.  At approximately 0245 hours on August 6 the mighty Boeing B-29 Superfortress , piloted by Colonel Paul Tibbet, took off on the mission that would profoundly alter history.

But wait…    Actually, the only thing left to tell is, go get you some!  Available right now on our MAAM Online Store here.  Sorry, no walk-in purchases are possible until the Museum can open again, and by then these beauties will probably be all gone.

WHAT’S THAT?  NOT ENOUGH SPACE ON YOUR WALL?

We have just the thing: WWII Weekend Mini-Posters. These 8.5 x 11 inch mini-posters, like the full-sized WWII Weekend posters, are produced primarily to advertise the show. They are distributed to businesses and organizations each year in the weeks leading up to WW II Weekend. They are normally all used up for that purpose and not offered for sale to the public. But times are anything but normal this year, so we are offering these little beauties, just the right size for framing, for sale. They sell for $3.75, including shipping, and the money goes to support our museum in this difficult time. You can also opt for up to three additional mini-posters for just $2.50 each.

Get yours  while supplies last at our On-line Store.

Thanks for your support.

SOME BOMB LINKS NOT WORKING?

No, they aren’t duds – just temporarily disarmed until they are ready for the 2021 World War II Weekend. We’ll start “re-arming” soon – so check back often, and keep an eye on our Facebook Page for announcements.

DATES OF FUTURE WORLD WAR II WEEKENDS

In case you like to plan long-range, MAAM’s WWII Weekend is always held (well, until this year, that is) on the first full weekend (including Friday) in June.  June 4-5-6, 2021; June 3-4-5, 2022; June 2-3-4, 2023 ; June 7-8-9, 2024.

WWII Weekend strives to present the broadest possible scope of WWII history without making any philosophical endorsements whatsoever.  If in this process, you have a philosophical question with any of the visiting planes, visiting vehicles, visiting groups, visiting guests, visiting vendors or visiting persons who paid admission to attend, we request that you please contact the identified party directly for an explanation.  Thank you.

World War II Weekend is produced by the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum
(an IRS recognized 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) charitable organization)
for the sole benefit of the Museum itself.
