Avro Lancaster

End of an Era: Factory That Produced Avro Lancaster to Close
    March 11, 2011
    - For 86 years the BAE Systems Aerodrome and factory at Woodford, England, produced many iconic military and commercial aircraft from the first Avro tri-plane to the Vulcan Bomber and the BAE-146. Overlooked by the Luftwaffe's World War II strategic bombing plans, Woodford and nearby Chadderton would produce a key difference-maker, the Lancaster bomber. In the coming weeks the BAE Systems plant will shut down and all that will remain is the Avro Heritage Centre. View the photographs
